Police arrest 17-year-old on attempted murder charge

Havre police said in a press release late this morning that a 17-year-old boy was arrested Friday night on suspicion of charges including attempted murder after police were told that someone in a vehicle Thursday had fired multiple gunshots at another vehicle.

The juvenile is being detained in Cascade County Juvenile Detention Center pending formal charges being filed by the Hill County Attorney's Office.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a weapon and criminal endangerment.

The release from the police department said the investigation is ongoing and it appears to be an isolated incident and no concern for public safety exists at this time.

The release said Havre Police Department received information Friday that a 17-year-old boy may have shot a gun at people near Legion Baseball Field during the early morning hours of Thursday on the 100 Block of First Street.

The release said officers began investigating the incident and collecting evidence in that area. Neighbors in the area reported hearing gun shots in that region Thursday morning.

The release said the officers conducted multiple interviews, located and seized vehicles, applied for search warrants and gathered evidence.

The officers determined that a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on the 100 Block of 12th Street when the driver of a Chevrolet sedan traveling eastbound fired multiple shots at the occupant and the pickup, the release said.

No one was injured during the incident, the release said.
