Former Havre resident Virginia M. Pasma, 89, passed away at home in Perris, California, August 20, 2022, after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Virginia was born in Havre July 9, 1933, to Beatrice and George Shaffer. She was educated in Havre and graduated from both Havre High School and Northern Montana College.
August 20, 1955, she married James J. Pasma in Havre. To that marriage, Virginia and Jim welcomed and raised four children — Vicky, Farol, Zarren and Zane.
In addition to raising her family, Mom worked incredibly hard. Not only did she join Dad in working in the family business, “Pasma Pets,” for 30 years, she also worked full-time in various positions at the Montana State Highway Department, Gail Rader Realty and Northern Montana College. It must be noted that as time passed and Mom’s memory dimmed, she still continued to speak adoringly of her time working in the Business Office at NMC and how that job and the staff and students of the University had provided her with the “Happiest Times of Her Life!”
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, George Shaffer and Beatrice Fencl, husband, James Pasma, daughter Vicky Kostelecky, granddaughter Lindsey Duray and her sister, Betty Connor.
She is survived by her daughter Farol Baker; sons, Zarren and Zane Pasma; her brother, Jack Shaffer, and six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Special mention for her nephew Gary Mueller.
Cremation has taken place. A service for Virginia will be held at a future date.
