In a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2 West, initially reported at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, one person was injured and transported by a passerby to the hospital. MHP Capt. Derek Werner said a GMC one-ton pickup truck was following Toyota half-ton pickup heading west on U.S. Highway 2 west of Havre. The driver of the GMC attempted to pass the Toyota, but the driver of the Toyota was turning left off the highway. The GMC side-swiped the Toyota and tore off the Toyota's left front tire. The GMC drifted off to the right side of the road. The front seat passenger of the GMC, an older man, had injuries from broken glass and a passerby took him to the hospital to get checked out, Werner said. The other three occupants and the driver of the Toyota were not injured; all vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts. Speed and unsafe passing were listed as causes of the crash.
