The family of Jim Faber is inviting people to a celebration of his life Oct. 8 being held in conjunction with the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the ranch where he grew up and ranched.

A service was postponed at the time of his death due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and his family decided a celebration of life in conjunction with the 130th anniversary of the family ranch on Sucker Creek Road, homesteaded in 1892, was appropriate.

A service will be followed by a meal, companionship and music by the Faber Family and Friends.

"We just thought we would do everything he loved," Colleen Faber said.

Faber, a longtime area rancher, musician, poet, performer, genealogist, volunteer including being a charter member of the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department and who served in the U.S. Army National Guard, died of complications of Parkinson's disease Oct. 12, 2020, at age 78.

He performed and volunteered at countless events throughout the area over his lifetime and received the Montana Health Association Adult Volunteer of the Year award in 2015 for nearly 20 years, at that time, of performing for and entertaining care center residents and senior citizens.

The celebration will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the ranch at 54914 Sucker Creek Road at the ranch hangar.

Cowboy Church will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. at the hangar.
