Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Jayla Meldrum, Havre High Cross Country

Looking to make an impact at this week’s Class A State Meet in Missoula, Havre High’s Jayla Meldrum built momentum at last Friday’s Eastern A Fall Classic cross country meet in Sidney. Meldrum finished in the Top 15 of the divisional race at the Sidney Country Club, coming in with a time of 20:44.37. The finish put Meldrum in 15th place as she helped the Blue Pony girls finish third overall at the meet. Meldrum and the Ponies head to state this Saturday.

Braden Mattson, CJI Football

It’s been an exciting season for the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks. And they closed out their home schedule in style with a 70-18 win over Harlowton last Friday night. In the win, quarterback Braden Mattson threw a pair of touchdown passes, while also rushing for a 52-yard score. On defense, Mattson also returned an interception for a touchdown, as well as making 13 tackles. Mattson, who also plays basketball for the Hawks, helped CJI to the playoffs.
