A City of Havre truck spreads dirt on streets in Havre this morning. Winter hit the area hard last week, with unseasonable cold and snow, although it got a bit warmer faster than expected. Havre has seen 5.6 inches of snow for the month recorded at the National Weather Service station at the Havre City-County Airport, and had temperatures drop well-below zero, with a low of minus 18 Saturday. But the temperatures climbed back up with a high in Havre of 29 Sunday and of 32 Monday with Monday's low a moderate 15 degrees - still colder than the normal value of 20. The normal high Monday was 43 degrees. More snow is expected Wednesday, with light snow expected to move southward Wendesday afternoon through Thursday morning and most of Chouteau County in a winter weather advisory Wednesday with 1 inch to 3 inches of snow predicted there and up to 6 inches in the mountains. The highs Wednesday in this area are expected to be around 30 degrees, but the lows dropping to the single digits and even slightly below zero and the highs the rest of hte week predicted to be in the teens and 20s. No more snow is expected through the weekend.
