Obituary - Jarold E. Schmidt

Jarold Ernest Schmidt, 83, was born to Ernest and Verla Delight Schmidt of Bowman, ND, in 1939. Relocating to Lewistown, MT, in Jarold's childhood the family helped farm the PN Ranch.

Upon graduation from Fergus County High in 1958, Jarold served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Following his service, Jarold farmed the 79 Ranch, where he would meet his future wife, Lynn.

Jarold attending Montana State University and receive his bachelor's degree in commerce with distributive education from Montana State University in Bozeman in 1971.

Jarold devoted much of his professional career to Big Bud Tractors and was well known for his extensive knowledge and expertise when dealing with clients the world over. From 1980-1985, Jarold ventured outside Big Bud by owning a trout farm called Jarold's Mountain Best before returning to Big Bud. Officially retiring in 2001, Jarold would continue to offer his know-how with Big Bud whenever needed long into retirement.

Jarold was known for his big, boisterous personality. He loved his family, was always proud of them and never missed an opportunity to tell others about them. Jarold enjoyed hunting, road trips, playing pinochle, science fiction and fishing.

Jarold passed peacefully in Great Falls, MT, November 10, 2022.

Jarold was preceded in death by his parents, half-brothers (Bill, Bob, and Jackie Place), brothers (Stanley and Jimmy) and grandsons (Deyvon Schmidt and Dyllan Murray).

He is survived by Lynell (Pegar), Jeremy (Ashlyn and Daltyn), Jaymes and Kim (Zach and Holly), Lareina (Gillian and Koolen) and Lindsay as well as sibling Lavern Schmidt and JoWayne Huestis and many loved ones.

A Reflective Tribute/Celebration of Life/Memorial/Interment is tentatively planned for mid-July 2023.
