Winter Rendezvous Offers camaraderie, NRCS, Rural Development and MFU updates

Press release

Join Montana Farmers Union Feb. 16 in Billings for a complimentary dinner, connection with other members and information about the Inflation Reduction Act, Rural Development and MFU’s legislative work.

“Montana Farmers Union is all about providing educational opportunities for members to learn from each other and how to improve their farms, ranches and soil,” MFU President Walter Schweitzer said.

The gathering also is a chance to spend time with other likeminded people and hopefully buoy spirits after a year defined by drought, Schweitzer added.

Along with the meal, attendees can look forward to hearing from:

• Kathleen Williams with an update on USDA Rural Development’s work,

• Tom Watson with NRCS with an update on programs available and extra funding received through the IRA that can help producers improve their operations, and

• Montana Farmers Union leaders with updates on the grassroots organization’s work during the Legislative Session, the Montana Premium Processing Cooperative and upcoming events, such as the inaugural Eastern Montana Women’s Conference.

The complimentary dinner is open to MFU members and the community and will be held at the Double Tree Inn, with happy hour at 5 p.m., and dinner and presentations following at 6 p.m.
