Sugarbeeters win the District 9C girls track meet

Fort Benton's Angeline Riener competes at the District 9C Track Meet Wednesday. The meet began the postseason for several high school track and field teams on the Hi-Line. The Chinook Sugarbeeters took first in the meet despite strong competition from Big Sandy and Fort Benton.

At the Havre Middle School Track Wednesday, the postseason began with the District 9C track and field meet. In the girls meet, many athletes performed well in a tight finish between the top three teams. But at the end of the day, Chinook scored 110 total points to win the girls' meet.

"They put in some really good performances," Chinook head coach Kendall Harwood said.

In the distance runs, Chinook's Anna Terry took first in the 1,600-meter dash and she took first in the 3,200-meter dash. She recorded a time of 5:46.36 in the 1,600 and she recorded a time of 12:54.72 in the 3,200. She a...
