Northern C Divisional Track and Field Meet gets started in Great Falls

At Memorial Stadium in Great Falls Thursday, the Northern C Divisional Track and Field Meet got started. While the meet will continue into today, several events have already wrapped up to determine who will be participating in the Class C meet in Laurel next week.

At the end of the first day, the North Star boys team stands at third with 23 total points in its meet. In the pole vault, North Star’s Travis Otto took second with a measurement of 10-06 and his teammate Chris Burkhartsmayer took third with a measurement of 10-00.

Fellow Knight Gavin Clawson took second in the shot put with a distance of 47-06.5. His teammate Carter Campbell took sixth in the 1,600-meter dash with a time of 4:58.63.

Chinook stands at fourth in the boys meet with 19 total points. In the 400 relay, Chinook took first with a time of 44.80. In the long jump, Breden Fetter took second with a measurement of 21-07 and his teammate Carson Nissen took sixth with a measurement of 19-07.5.

Big Sandy is tied for fifth with Power in the boys meet with 13 total points so far. Cooper Taylor took first in the javelin with a distance of 158-01 and his teammate Wylee Snapp took fifth in the shot put with a distance of 43-05.75. In the 400 relay, Big Sandy took sixth with a time of 46.02.

In the boys meet, Chester-Joplin-Inverness is currently eighth with 10 total points. Braden Mattson took third in the javelin with a distance of 154-10 and he took fifth in the long jump with a measurement of 20-07.5. His teammate Cooper Streit took fifth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:55.73.

Fort Benton and Turner are tied for ninth in the boys meet with eight total points. In the 400 relay, Fort Benton took fourth with a time of 45.54. In the 400-meter sprint, Turner’s Ryan Doyle took second with a time of 52.18 and Fort Benton’s Brock Grossman took fourth with a time of 53.15.

In the Northern C Divisional Girls Meet, Chinook leads with 45 total points. Hallie Neibauer had a strong day as she took first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:24.29 and she took fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.23.

Many other Sugarbeeters ran well Thursday. In the 800, Alexus Seymour took third with a time of 2:29.07 and Anna Terry took fourth with a time of 2:31.02. In the 3,200-meter dash, Terry took first with a time of 12:19.38 and her teammate Neva Lowe took third with a time of 13:20.02.

Hannah Schoen also had a strong day in the shot put and the javelin. She took third in the shot put with a distance of 32-11 and she took sixth in the javelin with a distance of 100-06.

Fort Benton is currently third in the girls meet with 33 total points so far. In the 400 relay, Fort Benton took third with a time of 53.01. In the long jump, Fort Benton’s Etta Wicks took second with a measurement of 16-03 and her teammate Emerson Giese took third with a measurement of 16-01.5. Fellow Longhorn Kylynn Nack took second in the pole vault with a measurement of 7-00 and Sara Clark took third in the javelin with a distance of 101-09.

North Star stands at seventh in the girls meet with 18 total points. Kaytlyn Domire took second in the shot put with a distance of 32-11.5 and Rainee Watson took second in the javelin with a distance of 109-11. In the pole vault, fellow Knight Alyssa Lavery took sixth with a measurement of 6-06.

Big Sandy and Turner both have six total points for tenth in the girls meet. Big Sandy’s Alex Worrall took fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:32.90 and her teammate Eva Yeadon took fourth in the javelin with a distance of 101-03. In the 400, Turner’s Bridget Reed took third with a time of 1:02.73.

CJI stands at 13th in the girls meet with five total points. In the 400 relay, CJI took fourth with a time of 53.69. In the 3,200, CJI’s Tara Carter took sixth with a time of 13:55.56.

The Northern C Divisional Track Meet will continue today to determine who will be heading to the state meet. Events that are yet to determine champions include the hurdles, the 1,600 relay, the high jump, the triple jump and the discus, so there should be plenty of exciting competition today.
