Senior girls have been through it all during their high school tennis careers

The 2023 senior class of Rayna Johnson, Cat Kaftan, Amaya Bliwernitz, Kate Hemmer, Courtney Burchard, Emerald Tinsley and Addison Gollie have dealt with a pandemic, rebuilding a depleted Havre High girls tennis program and a coaching change throughout their careers. Despite this adversity, these Blue Ponies have stuck through it to lead the program. They will wrap up their careers with the Eastern A Divisional Meet this weekend and maybe the Class A State Meet in Missoula next weekend.

Sports are full of adversity. If it was always easy, winning would never be satisfying. But even with the expected roadblocks in sports, few could have been prepared for the COVID-19 pandemic that arrived in early 2020 to cancel the spring sports season.

That was the scenario for the freshman girls first joining in the Havre High tennis program back in 2020. Now seniors, the likes of Rayna Johnson, Courtney Burchard, Cat Kaftan, Kate Hemmer and several others have been able to play tennis for the Ponies for the last three years.
