Editor’s note: A version of this story ran on Page A3 in the June 22, 2023, edition of Havre Daily News but did not clarify that the non-profit Red Ants Pants Foundation, rather than the for-profit Red Ants Pants women’s workwear company, provided the grants.

Red Ants Pants Foundation announced that Liberty County 4-H Council in Chester has received a grant in its 2023 Community Grant.

The White Sulphur Springs-based nonprofit foundation gave the 4-H Council $1,000.

“The Liberty County 4-H Council provides financial support and guidance to their local 4-H youth clubs,” a release about this year’s grant recipients said. “The council’s goal is to help make it possible for all youth to participate in 4-H activities, no matter what their financial situation. One of the projects that members participate in is raising livestock animals.

“The grant money received will be used towards the purchase of a small animal scale so members can monitor the growth of their animals and provide a quality product to consumers,” the release said.

The release said the foundation used proceeds from the 2023 Red Ants Pants Music Festival to provide $30,000 in grants toward projects and entities that are helping fulfill the company’s mission pillar of enriching rural communities.

“To date, the Red Ants Pants Foundation has granted over $160,000 to over 100 entities across nearly every corner of Montana thanks to a portion of the proceeds from past Red Ants Pants Music Festivals,” the release said.

The stated goal of the Red Ants Pants Foundation is to “develop and expand leadership roles for women, preserve and support working family farms and ranches, and enrich and promote rural communities.”

It started the music festival in 2011 and uses its proceeds to fund its community grants and run timber skills workshops and Girls Leadership Program.

Tickets to the festival are on sale now online at http://www.redantspantsmusicfestival.com/tickets .

The foundation also is accepting applications for its 2023-24 Girls Leadership Program.

“The purpose of the Red Ants Pants Foundation Girls Leadership Program is to inspire hope, build strength, develop pride, and foster courage in rural Montana girls,” the release said. “Please share this opportunity with a family member, neighbor, employee, or any young woman you know.”
