HELENA — Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public comment on several environmental assessments, or EAs.

Stoney Brook Village private fish pond license EA

This project consists of a private pond constructed in Jefferson County with the intent to stock fish for angling. Comments due Aug. 30.

Draft EA checklist Chartier private pond license review

A landowner is applying for a private fish pond license and proposes to stock rainbow trout in an unnamed 1.5-acre private pond fed by a perennial spring in Sand Coulee. The pond currently has no documented fish presence. The project is sponsored by the private landowner and the license would be active for a period of 10 years from the year of issuance. The license can be renewed for additional 10-year intervals at the end of each term and the license is transferable. Comments due Sept. 1.

Partial closure of the Marshall Creek WMA in Missoula County due to the Colt Lake fire. Comments due Sept. 1.

Holmgren Fishing Access Site emergency closure

Holmgren FAS will be used as a worksite and staging area for the assessment and cleanup efforts for the Yellowstone trail derailment in Stillwater County. Nine rail cars containing chemicals entered the river system. Chemical containment efforts and river cleanup processes are ongoing. Comments due Sept. 1.
