Lights host Tech in final home game

The Montana State University-Northern Lights have one last chance to play at Tilleman Field. And it won't be an easy one.

Northern (1-7) will celebrate senior day when the Lights host Montana Tech Saturday at noon. The Orediggers, led by former Northern great Kyle Samson, come to Havre at 4-2 in the Frontier Conference and 5-3 overall.

Tech is currently alone in fourth place in the league standings and needs two wins and some help to have a chance to win the league title, so the Diggers will be playing with some urgency Saturday.

Led by quarterback Blake Thelen, a Montana State transfer, as well as 100-yard a game rushers Kaleb Winteburn and Landers Smith, Tech's offense is one of the best in the conference.

That will mean challenges to a Northern defense led by All-American senior Dylan Wampler, who will be playing his final game at home Saturday.

The Lights and Orediggers kick off at noon Saturday at Tilleman Field. Northern wraps up the regular season next Saturday at Rocky Mountain College.
