Letter to the Editor - Thanks for all the help and support

Hello!

My name is Austin Boyce.  I am 17 years old, was born and raised in this wonderful Havre community and I started playing hockey with Havre Youth Hockey when I was 3. Over the years I have developed a real passion for the game, which I can attribute largely to my dad and his love of hockey and I look forward to seeing where God leads me with it in the future. Last June, I was invited to play on an U18 Prep team located out of Alexandria, Minnesota, for the 2023-2024 season. With the encouragement from my parents to pursue it and financial support of so many generous people in my life, I was able to accept the invitation and headed to Minnesota this past Sept 2023.  I am playing for the Northstar Knights at Northstar Christian Academy in Alexandria. If you are interested in following the journey this year, you can tune in to the home games on Youtube and find the team roster and stats on https://northstarknights.com .

One of the ways I was able to raise the tuition was by organizing a raffle and selling tickets for an opportunity to win three prizes.  Last week my family and I were able to do the drawings live at Creative Yogurt on their Facebook page in the presence of family and friends. I have contacted the three winners personally, but I wanted to publicly congratulate them as well as inform all the participants of the results. The first-prize Bing and Bob’s Rifle winner went to Christ Brekhus, the sedond-prize $300 Master Sports gift certificate went to Todd Hansen and the 3rd prize $50 cash winner went to Craig Leeds.

Thank you gentlemen and thanks again to everyone who participated in making this fund raiser such a success and allowing me the opportunity to follow my dreams! I definitely wouldn't be where I am today without God and the help of my family and so many others who have sewn into my life. From the coaches who have helped develop my skills along the way to those who came out to watch and root me on! No matter where my path may lead me, I will always be an Havre Ice Hawk at heart.
