Holiday events on the Hi-Line continue this week

Another busy weekend of holiday events has come and gone, but there are still a few left, coming up this week as well.

Wednesday, Winter Storytelling, a free family event that includes soup and biscuits, will be held at 6 p.m. in the Kills At Night Center in Hays.

Thursday the Fort Belknap Indian Community’s Here Comes Christmas Parade is set for 6 p.m., with the procession of vehicles and floats decorated for the holidays starting at the Fort Belknap Bingo Hall.

Organizers for the parade are asking participants to start lining up their vehicles at 5 p.m.

“Come decorate your cars and help us bring in the spirit of Christmas,” a release about the event said.

In Havre, also Thursday, will be a Christmas Cake Decorating Community Education class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Henny Penny Cupcakes where participants will learn how to decorate a unique Santa-Claus-themed cake using buttercream and icing, one they can take home with them.

People interested can register at http://www.blueponyk12.com/community-ed for $22.

Friday at 5:30 p.m. Santa will be arriving in Havre by train at the BNSF Depot in Havre and Saturday will see the return of Cowboy Christmas, with Montana State University-Northern’s Rodeo Teams holding their 23rd annual fundraising dinner at Armory Gymnasium.

Hosted by the MSU-Northern Rodeo Booster Club, this is the biggest annual fundraising event for the Lights and Skylights Rodeo teams, with proceeds going to support the teams by helping to pay for scholarships, as well as their travel to competitions and for special training and clinics.

No-host cocktails will begin at 5 p.m. and the prime rib and shrimp dinner starts at 6 p.m. Music, games and auctions will follow the dinner, and numerous door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

Cost for the event is $60 for individuals, $500 for a table of six and $650 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased at Western Trailer Sales, Independence Bank and Norman’s Ranch and Sportswear or from any MSU-Northern Rodeo team member.

Organizers can accept donations up to the day, and if anyone wants to donate an auction item or door prize, they can contact Doug Kallenberger at 406-265-4159.

District 4 HRDC Winter Wonderland will also run Saturday 1-3 p.m. in HRDC’s Fireside Room, with games for the whole family. All activities are free of charge.

“Come join us for our second annual event full of warm fun and games,” a release from HRDC said.
