Salvation Army calls for donations amid growing need

Havre Salvation Army is putting out a call for donations as they remain well short of their funding goal for this year, jeopardizing their ability to provide for the area’s needs in the coming year.

“Red Kettle donations permit The Salvation Army to meet the urgent needs of thousands of families who will not have Christmas this year without your help,” a press release from the organization said.

The release said they’ve raised $13,761 in Havre this year as of Thursday, but to meet their goal of providing for local families they need another $22,000, and there is only two more weeks until Christmas.

In the release, Salvation Army Lt. Colonel Cindy Foley said need is rising, but fewer people are donating than before, and they want to keep providing for families at Christmas time.

“We are trying to provide food, shelter, toys and clothing to more families this year and in the midst of the growing need,” she said in the release. “ ... We rely on our generous donors to ensure that Christmas joy is given to everyone no matter their circumstances.”

The release encouraged people to donate to The Salvation Army’s physical kettles around town, or online at https://www.northwest.salvationarmy.org .
