Pony thinclads get their season started

Last week, the Havre High track teams got a shot at competing for the first time this spring. After a couple of cancellations, Havre made the long trek to an invitational meet in Frenchtown last Thursday.

The Havre girls were led by star sprinter Kaydence Reoter, who win the 100 and 200 meters. Macy Brandon was stellar as well, finishing second in the 200 and width in the 100.

The Havre girls also won the 4x100 relay. The team was made up of Reiter, Brandon, Macee May, and Kyanna Jarvis as they finished it in 51.91, while the boys' team of Brisbin Reiter, Carson Harris, Michael Emge, and Brayden Kimberling took second in that same event. Jarvis was a top finisher in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.14. She also was tied teammate with Ariana Gary in the high Jump, both going over 4-10.

In the first races of her high school track career, Ashlyn Ford was second in the 1,600 and third in the 800 meters. Her 1,600 time qualified her for that event at state and was a Top 5 recorded mark in Havre track history, while Roma Gum scored third in the Javelin with a personal best 104 feet and six inches.

Boys top performances included, senior Caleb Tomac earning top honors in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:34:45, while finishing third in the 800 meters at 2:07:25.

Tommy Lewis got a personal record in the shot put, throwing it 48 feet and finishing fourth in the event.
