Northern students win gold at SkillsUSA competition

Two Montana State University-Northern students won top awards at the the 2024 Montana SkillsUSA State conference held at Helena College March 24-2.

Hunter Velk took gold in Diesel and Sterling Sheldon took gold in Automotive.

The purpose of the Skills USA competition is to promote excellence in technical education and prepare students for successful careers in their respective fields. It brings together talented individuals from various technical disciplines to showcase their skills and compete for recognition.

The competition aims to provide a platform for participants to demonstrate their abilities, gain practical experience, and foster a spirit of competition and camaraderie among students pursuing technical careers.

Jordan Ketchem competed last weekend in Welding.

Welding and Auto Refinishing were held separately last weekend at City College in Billings.
