Hill County Commission discusses health department window replacement

The Hill County Commission discussed their possible role in an upcoming hearing about the destruction of a window of the Hill County Health Department, and whether or not to replace a county vehicle in a brief working meeting Monday.

Hill County Commissioner Jake Strissel said a window of the health department was broken some time ago, and the commission received a letter indicating that they may need to provide testimony and documentation regarding the cost of the window’s replacement at an upcoming hearing.

Strissel and fellow Commissioner Sheri Williams said they would forward the matter to the Hill County attorney to get her guidance on what the courts need from the county in this matter.

Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson was not at the meeting due to a previous appointment.

Strissel and Williams also discussed whether to repair or replace a county vehicle that was seriously damaged in a collision with a deer.

Strissel said the best quote they could get for repairs was about $5,000 and it would take $25,000 to replace.

Williams said the county has another vehicle with far more miles on it that will likely need to be replaced in the next few years anyway, so she thinks they should repair the damage and save money for what is soon to be a much-more-needed replacement.

Strissel agreed, saying the damaged vehicle has never had any problems and should have plenty more miles left in it after they get it repaired.
