With the Northeast A Divisional Tournament fast approaching, the Havre High tennis teams took full advantage of the Mayfair Invitational last weekend, hosted by Billings Central.
The Blue Ponies played in a bracketed tournament against almost all of the Eastern A, including division rivals like Miles City and Glendive.
On the boys side, the Ponies excelled in doubles, as Carter Spangler and Max Spangler teamed up to finish third in the No. 1 doubles bracket. The duo lost a tough match to eventual champion Hardin, but bounced back to beat the top team from Miles City in a consolation match.
In the No. 3 doubles bracket, the tandem of Mason Kinsella and Carter Chagnon walked away with the championship for the Havre boys. The duo won four matches to walk away with the title for the Ponies. Reid Kato and Callen Stoner also competed in the No. 1 bracket for the Ponies.
On the girls side, the Blue Ponies' top doubles team of Mylee Shennum and Heather Herring had a strong showing for the Ponies as they took fourth place in the No. 1 doubles bracket.
Havre will be back in action for the final weekend of the regular season, as the Blue Ponies travel to Lewistown for the Fergus Invite on Friday and the Miles City Invite on Saturday.
