News you can use
It was just a few short weeks ago that Havre High legend Dustin Kraske announced he was retiring from coaching girls basketball at his alma mater.
On Tuesday night, the next in line to lead the Blue Pony girls program became official.
After HPS School Board Approval, former HHS standout Tommy Brown will be the next head coach of the Blue Pony girls basketball program. Brown, a 2019 graduate of Havre High, and former Blue Pony basketball standout, as well as an All-State tennis player, spent the last two seasons coaching under Kraske on the Blue Ponies.
Brown also coached previously at the Havre Middle School, and was an assistant for three years on the HHS tennis team as well.
"I am really fortunate to grow up a Blue Pony and have the opportunity to coach in this supportive community I have grown to know and love. It is truly a privilege to work with the good people at Havre Public Schools. And of course, I get to coach the wonderful student-athletes at Havre High, many of whom I have already built relationships with during my time as an assistant," Brown said Tuesday night. "The rewarding feelings that come with being a part of these great kids' lives and witnessing their growth on and off the court is truly priceless. I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to be the head coach of the Havre Girls' Basketball program and am looking forward to this new chapter. Go Ponies."
Stay tuned for much more on this story throughout the summer.
