  • View from the North 40: Oh, Canada, you know how to woo me

    Pam Burke|Updated Jun 9, 2017

Canada has officially become my first alternate for home country. Sure, Montana will always be the country that calls to my soul, but there’s a push in Canada to “update” their laws by making it not illegal to get in a duel with someone. In Canada. Dueling. How awesome is that? I mean, we’re talking about the land of the nicest people and the country that’s the home of the Canadian standoff: “You go first.” “Oh, no, you go ahead.” “Ah, I wouldn’t hear of it. You go, eh.” “Ple...

You will either become bitter or be better as you experience failure in the many areas of life. At first glace, the topic of failure seems opposite the themes we hear many preaching as they talk about victory, overcoming, and conquering. Our victory is in Jesus. We fail to learn we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Nothing of eternal value comes out of our own...

  • Out Our Way:

    Updated Jun 9, 2017

Genesis 17:15 - 21: 7 Out our way, I have discovered rough cowboy humor. I recall, on my first roundup, one of the guys handed me a rope and said real cowboys know how to rope. But they have to begin somewhere, and he figured it was a good idea for me to come into the corral as they were branding calves and try to get a loop on one just as they released him. I swung out a loop and began twirling it as I had been taught, when it suddenly occurred to me that a freshly branded...
