Montana Watercolor Society presents show in Havre

The Montana Watercolor Society is presenting MTWS-Havre Watermedia 2002 in Havre next week.

A public reception will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibition is scheduled to run July 17-28 at the H. Earl Clack Museum art gallery in the Havre Heritage Center, 315 Fourth St.

The exhibit illustrates varied techniques and styles that express the creativity of the artists whose work is on display.

The Montana Watercolor Society is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1983 to encourage the advancement, study, appreciation and creation of watermedia painting in Montana. The society has a wide range of members, from beginning painters to full-time professionals. People interested in the advancement of watercolor painting are encouraged to join.

MTWS sponsors the Watermedia Exhibition, an annual national juried competition, plus a quarterly newsletter, workshops, demonstrations and lectures, as well as slide and video presentations. It also organizes local area members' shows and an annual statewide members-only exhibition held in Lewistown each spring.

Membership in Montana Watercolor Society, as well as entry into the annual national juried watermedia exhibition, is open to residents of the United States. Annual dues are $30.

A membership application may be submitted after an artist meets the requirement of acceptance and showing in three annual national juried watermedia exhibitions. To obtain membership, send a check payable to MTWS to Nancy Harte, MTWS membership chair, P.O. Box 3222, Missoula, MT 59806.

The Havre exhibition has been coordinated by Vicky Campbell, president and chair of the board of the MTWS. The following artists will join Campbell in displaying their work: Delores Ball, Margaret Hayes, Mary Nault, Linda Pollington, Kris Shaw and Ginnie Streeper.
