Allan Louis “Lou” Lucke, 77, died of leukemia, Saturday, May 16, 2009, at his home.

His funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009, at the 5th Avenue Christian Church, with Pastor Rod Kvamme officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Eagles immediately after graveside services. Memorials in Lou's honor may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to the Montana State Universityn Northern Foundation for college scholarships. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Lou was born May 21, 1931, in Havre, Mont. To Alvin Jack and Jeanette (Shepherd) Lucke. He graduated from Havre High School in 1949. He attended Northern Montana College and graduated in 1952 with his associate's degree in chemistry. He transferred to Montana State UniversitynBozeman where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in engineering physics in 1954. In 1976 he completed a second sachelor's degree in earth eciences and biology. Lou married JoAnn Cloninger in Mau 1955 in Winnipeg, Canada. The family moved many times before settling in Havre in 1980. Lou has an impressive work history which includes working as a systems engineer for IBM, a programmer for North American Aviation, an executive adviser and senior research engineer for McDonnell Douglas and a director of ITS. He was also was an instructor for Montana State University in Bozeman and MSU-Northern. Lou was very community minded. He had a huge interest in the preservation of historical buildings including the Heritage Center and the old Fort Assinniboine. He worked on every election for decades compiling the votes as an election judge. He has served on many committees which include B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1201 since 1952. He was exalted ruler from 2003 to 2004. He has been a member of the Montana Land and Mineral Owners Association since 1987. He also served as the chairman of the board of directors of the Clack Museum Foundation for many years and the chairman of the board of directors for the Hill County Clack Museum for three years. Lou was the editor of Computing Reviews for the Association for Computing and Machinery. He fixed more than 161 computers and gave them to people who could not afford them. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lou is survived by his wife, JoAnne Lucke of Havre, Mont .; his children, Jeannie (Paul) Kvamme of Seattle, Wash., Louis Lucke of Seattle, Wash., and Larry Lucke of Havre, Mont., Angel Lucke of Holly Pond, Ala., Marie (Arine) Woods of Chester, Mont., Martina (Jim) Baird of Riverside, Ala .; sister, Janet Peadmond of Helena, Mont .; a special family friend, Emily Mayer of Havre, Mont .; 13 grandchildren and 24 greatgrandchildren
