JOHN EDWARD ROCK obituary

John Edward Rock, 64, of Rocky Boy, died Aug. 22, 2009, in Great Falls at Benefis Hospital of natural causes.

He was born May 15, 1945, to John Edward and Mary (Smith) Rock on the north side of Havre. John was raised on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation, where he lived all his life. He enjoyed drawing, stickgame, bingo and listening to his powwow music. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Forever he will be loved and missed. Family that has gone on before John in death include his parents; his brothers, Fred Bacon and Gary Weiss; his sisters, Josephine Weiss; his aunt, Agnes Gopher and grandson, Jaylon Limberhand. Survivors include his brothers, Elbert Rock, Richard Rock, Rusty Gopher and Robert Gopher; his sisters, Emma Rock, Kathleen Gopher, Linda Gopher and Lanna Cheppewa; special nieces and nephews and their spouses, Orton (Jaunita) Rock, Tana Rock, Avery Gladeau, Camille (James) Weiss, Justin (Cheryl) Weiss, Gus (Rose) Bacon, Emory (Darla) Bacon, Velva (Guy) Turner and Colleen (Emory) Small; along with many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and friends. A traditional Native American wake was held at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church Services were 10 a.m. today, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Services are in the care of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
