The Hi-Line volleyball weekend got off to a wild start on Thursday night.

Thursday's match between Box Elder was cancelled and it has been announced that the Bears are planning to forfeit the rest of the varsity season.

Meanwhile, in Big Sandy, the North Star Knights swept the first-place District 6C East Big Sandy Pioneers Thursday night by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-23.

Tande Smith paced the Knights with nine assist and five blocks and Shelby Lipp added eight kills in the three-game sweep. The Pioneers got eight blocks from Hannah Williams, while Brooke Leader had 12 assists and four service aces.

It was a quiet Friday night on the volleyball front but local teams got things going again on Saturday night.

In another big 6C East showdown, the Chinook Sugarbeeters swept Big Sandy in Chinook. The Beeters added to Big Sandy's rough weekend by beating the Pioneers 25-16, 25-16 and 25-13.

In the dominating win, the Beeters got seven kills, 11 digs and five blocks from Kayla Hanson. Katie Diemert had seven assists and Laramie Pursley added two aces. The Pioneers were led by MacKenzie Jenkins who had three kills and two aces. Hannah Williams added five blocks in the loss.

North Star earned a split on the weekend after its nonconference loss at Geraldine on Saturday. The Tigers beat the Knights by scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-15 and 26-24.

Leading the Knights was Jordan Spicher with 15 digs, while Tande Smith and Lisa Carlon each had 12 assists.. Carlon also had 14 blocks in the loss.

The Chester/J-I Hawks are on a hot streak right now, and they swept the Power Pirates on Saturday in Chester. The Hawks defeated the Pirates by scores of 25-14, 24-15 and 25-23.

C/J-I, which is moving up the 6C West standings, got eight kills and five aces from Jennie Ghekiere, while Michelle Spicher added six kills and a block.

In Class B action on Saturday, the Rocky Boy Morning Stars lost at home to District 1B leader Fairfield. The Eagles downed the Morning Stars 25-8, 25-14 and 25-18.

Caitlin Standing Rock had three kills and one block for Rocky Boy. Amanda Belcourt had two aces in the loss.
