North side fire burns Midtown shop

A fire caused extensive damage to the interior and equipment of the Midtown Car Care Center on 3rd Street North Wednesday. The blaze was dealt with quickly and no one was harmed.

Michael Breum, who co-owns the garage with his father, Bob, said this morning that the fire happened quickly while working on a fuel tank shortly after 5 p.m. Some gasoline leaked, though he doesn't know how it lit.

"One minute we had gas in the car. The next we had fire on the floor," Breum said.
