Hi-Line Volleyball Roundup

The postseason is upon volleyball teams across the Hi-Line. This weekend will mark district tournaments for the 6C East, as well as the 1B and 2B.

But teams had a little unfinished business last week, as the regular season came to an end.

Last Monday saw three matches on the Hi-Line, including Chester/J-I defeating Dutton-Brady by scores of 25-20, 25-5 and 25-13. The Hawks, who captured the 6C East regular season title, got six kills from Jenni Ghekiere, while Kate Graff had three blocks, six assists and 10 digs.

Also on Monday, the Chinook Sugarbeeters defeated the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds by scores of 25-4, 25-8 and 25-9. Chinook dominated the match from start to finish and got four kills and nine aces from Taryn Norby. Paige Moxley added four kills and Haley Swank had eight assists.

Chinook then wrapped up the regular season with a huge five-set win over the Class B Malta M-Ettes on Tuesday night. Chinook outlasted the M-Ettes by scores of 20-25, 25-14, 16-25, 25-16 and 15-13. It was a dramatic comeback by the Beeters, but no Chinook stats were reported.

And in one final 6C East match on Tuesday night, the C/J-I Hawks closed out their regular season title with an emphatic win over the North Star Knights. The Hawks swept the Knights by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-19.

Kate Graff had nine kills and five aces for the Hawks, while Megan Han added five aces. Nikole Wolfe had 16 assists. The Knights were led by Shelby Lipp with nine kills and six blocks. Lisa Carlon had five aces and four assists and Taylor Warren had five digs.

The 6C East tournament will start Thursday morning in Chester. Chester/J-I earned the No. 1 seed, while North Star is the No. 2 seed. Chinook finished third in the regular season standings, followed by Big Sandy, Hays-Lodge Pole and Box Elder. The 6C tourney will run through Friday afternoon.
