Richard Gregory Peeler

Richard Gregory Peeler, 63, of Billings, formerly of Havre, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Eagle Cliff Manor. Funeral Mass will be held at St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Havre, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at 11 a. m., with committal rites immediately following Mass. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Richard was born Sept. 14, 1949, in Havre, to Clark and Grace Peeler. Born challenged with Down Syndrome, Richard spent his life with family until health and dementia issues made a nursing facility necessary in 2006.

He loved holidays, especially Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. His birthday was another special day for him. As a younger man, he participated in several Special Olympics, earning ribbons in the events of softball throw, standing long jump, 50-meter dash, 100-meter run, basketball games and bowling. Color books and crayons became a constant activity. He was his mother's helper and then his sister's. He so enjoyed his home chores.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother in 1982, his father in 1995, and all his uncles and aunts. He moved to Billings to reside with his sister and brother-in-law after the passing of his father.

He is survived by his sister, Theresa (Juel) Crawford of Billings; brother, Lance (Marion) Peeler of Boulder; brother, Michael (Dawn) Peeler of Stevensville; four nephews; five nieces; six great-nephews; four great-nieces; cousins and extended family members.

A sincere thank-you to Dr Charlotta Eaton, Jordan Teller, the staff at Eagle Cliff Manor special care unit and the Rocky Mountain Hospice team for the loving care, concern and support during a very difficult time.

"From Your Sister: "

Richard: You brought us challenges and tried our patience, but you gave unconditional trust and love. You drew people to you with your ear to ear smile and gave me many hugs. I will cherish forever your last words. "I love you too. " You are forever in my heart.

— Theresa

"From Your Brother"

"From Your Brother"

Richard: I love you and miss you. I'm thankful for the opportunity to know you and have you as a brother and all those things I've learned about life from our relationship. I hope to see you again.

— Michael
