Breaking Sports: Skylights fall to Argos in five sets

MSU-Northern's Joni Jagy (pink) and Hayley Russel (pink) go for a block during Friday night's Frontier Conference volleyball match against UGF at the Armory Gymnasium.

Mistakes of any size will play a major role in the game of volleyball. Unfortunately, the Montana State University-Northern Skylights found that out the hard way, with a 3-2 loss to the University of Great Falls on Friday night. The Argos defeated the Skylights in five sets, 28-26, 23-15, 25-17, 22-25, and 15-10 at the Armory, handing the Skylights their first home loss of the season. It was also the second time in about a week that the Argos defeated MSU-N, following a three game sweep of the Skylights last Thursday in Great Falls.

The Skylights dropped to 6-4 in the conference and 12-12 overall in the rare loss at home. But they did get solid play from Hillary Isleifson and Abby Nicholas. Isleifson led all players with 19 kills, while Nicholas grabbed 17. Joni Nagi also had 41 assists, while Holly Cartwright had 31 digs. The Argo's Kelsey Van Uden had 17 kills to lead the UGF attack.
