North Stars host rematches with GF Electrics on Sunday

The Havre North Stars American Legion baseball team played an extra four innings of baseball in a heated doubleheader with the Great Falls Electrics last Sunday in Great Falls.

A week later, the two teams will do it all over again.

Sunday afternoon at Legion Field, the North Stars and Electrics will meet for another Northern A doubleheader, and if those two games are as good as the last, fans should get their money's worth.

The North Stars beat the Electrics in a 10-inning thriller, then lost to Great Falls by one run in an eight-inning affair in the nightcap last Sunday at Don Olson Field. Both Brandon Smith and Justin Jensen pitched brilliant outings in those games, while the Havre bats did plenty of damage too.

But the Electrics have firepower on the hill and at the plate and that's what makes the matchup even and intriguing. The Electrics are the middle team of three legion programs in Great Falls, with only the Class AA Chargers ahead of them. So there is no doubt, the Electrics have plenty of talent in the lineup.

And though it's not even June yet, this rematch Sunday is important to both squads, which already sit at or near the top of the Northern District standings. The North Stars are off to a 4-1 start in league play and a couple of wins against the Electrics on Sunday would give them a good cushion heading into the heart of their schedule.

Sunday's doubleheader between the North Stars and Electrics is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Legion Field.

The North Stars are also home to face the Great Falls Stallion in a nine-inning game on May 30.
