Betty Louise Pollington

Betty Louise Pollington, 89, of Havre, a retired farmer, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, of natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre.

A memorial service is being planned at a later date in Havre. Cremation has taken place and Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Betty was born to Cecil and Frances (Hart) McClintock on Oct. 12, 1923, in Laramie, Wyo. Betty attended schools in Denver, Colo., and Ponca City, Okla., and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in Kansas City, Mo. Her summers were spent at the Hart Ranch in Absarokee, Mont. In 1942, Betty graduated from business college in Billings. She worked for a lawyer in Billings and then for the Yellowstone Bank in Columbus. It was during this time that she met Leighton Pollington, and they were married in 1944. They moved to Livingston then to Hanford, Wash. In 1946, they bought a farm at Kremlin, Mont., where they farmed until retiring in 1984. After retiring they moved to Carter where they bought a home along the Missouri River. During her time on the farm her greatest hobby was painting. Even in her later years when her vision was failing she continued to paint.

Betty is survived by her sons, Cody Pollington of Great Falls, Don Pollington of Bellevue, Wash., Gary Pollington of Havre, David Pollington of Kennewick, Wash. and Ken Pollington of Helena; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her companion since 1992, Curtis Nordgulen of Havre, and his children, Markus Nordgulen and Mari (Nordgulen) VanSlyke of Havre.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Frances McClintock; her brother, Donald McClintock; and husband, Leighton Pollington.
