Solomon vs. Rice for mayor again

Dems unopposed in wards 1,2,3

The filing for office in the city elections ended at 5 this afternoon, with many slots still not filled and one filled with a rematch of the last election.

Havre Mayor Tim Solomon, a Democrat, again will face Republican Bob Rice in the mayor race, a rematch of the 2009 election.

In City Council Ward 4, Havre Democrat Karen Datko will face the winner of the Republican primary.

John R. “Bob” Waldron will face Matt Boucher in that race.

In the other four city council races, and the city judge race, candidates are unopposed. Hill County Justice Court clerk and judge pro tempore Virginia Siegel is the sole candidate for city judge.

In Wards 2 and 3, incumbent Democrats Janet Trethewey and Jay Pyette are running unopposed for four-year terms. Incumbent Democrat Allen “Woody” Woodwick, who was redistricted from Ward 4 to Ward 3, is running unopposed for the remaining two years of Republican Rick Dow’s seat.

Dow resigned this spring to move to Minnesota.

In Ward 1, city politics newcomer Terry Lilletvetd is running unopposed as a Democrat.
