Mildred Melby Wilson

Mildred Wilson died Dec. 16, 2013, at Brendan House where she resided the last month after a recent fall and injury.

Mildred Melby Wilson was born Oct. 21, 1928, in Havre, to John and Beulah Melby. Millie, as she was known by her friends and family, was raised on a farm south of Kremlin with her eight siblings. She spoke often about this time with fond memories. She went to school through the eighth grade and then began her working life. She worked at numerous local restaurants as a server and pastry cook. She was well known at The Dutch Shop for her amazing pastry skills. In later years, she was a cook and housekeeper for the priests of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. She then became a member of the Catholic church. Millie then worked as a ward clerk and dietary aid at Northern Montana Hospital until her retirement in 1987.

Mildred and George Anderson were married in Harlem in June 1948 and later divorced. She then married Richard Nace in April 1957. He later died in a car accident in December 1969. On March 23, 1971, Millie married Lloyd Wilson in Havre, she was proceeded in death by Lloyd in September 1988 after his long battle with lung cancer.

Mildred was preceded in death by mother and father, John and Beulah Melby; sisters; Frances Halter, Reetha Ernst and Lois Knutson; brothers, Charles, Raymond and Arlan Melby; husbands, George Anderson, Richard Nace and Lloyd Wilson; stepson, Gerald Nace; and great-grandson Elijah Foster.

Mildred is survived by brothers, Marvin and Dave Melby both of Havre; children, Ronald Anderson of Gillette, Wyo., Diana Griggs of Olympia, Wash., Carol Johnson of Kalispell, Mont., Wesley (John) Anderson of Rochester, Wash., and Kari Nelson of Seattle, Wash; stepchildren Pam, Steve and Lana Wilson; stepson Michael Nace; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren which were her greatest joys.

There will be a celebration of life in May 2014 with interment at Highland Cemetery in Havre. Any donations in Mildred's honor can be made to charity of one's choice.
