Snow frosts the statue of James J. Hill and the fountain around him Monday night in front of the BNSF offices and Amtrak depot. A winter storm warning is in effect for most of northern Montana including throughout the Golden Triangle through Wednesday, with a chance of snow in the forecast diminishing by Saturday night. Cold temperatures also are in the forecast with below-zero lows predicted starting Friday night and a high of zero predicted Christmas Day.

After a mostly brown November and early December, some wintry weather - including a prediction of below-zero temperatures and heavy snowfall in some regions - is coming to north-central Montana just in time for Christmas.
