Obituary - Marybelle Miller

Marybelle Miller, 100, passed away due to natural causes at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018.

Cremation has taken place, and private family services will be held at a later date.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Marybelle was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Havre to Bruce and Vina (Harvey) Clyde. She was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1936. While in high school, she worked for F. A. Buttrey, and following high school, you could find Marybelle working at Clack's Hardware Store or Eddie's Bakery.

In 1942, she married Fredrick Miller. He was deployed to the Pacific Theatre soon after, and Marybelle relocated to California to work for LN Sweeny & Co. making small parts for airplanes during the war. After the war, they returned to Havre, and the couple had two daughters. They remained in Havre, where they owned and operated the Miller Studio and raised their daughters.

Marybelle was an avid fisherwoman, loved nature, and enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint, crafts, and playing cribbage. She and Fred were active members of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, and Marybelle was a member of the St. Jude Altar Society. She will always be remembered for her strength and positive attitude. She was a kind and caring woman to everyone she knew and met. Marybelle loved her home, yard, and garden. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be a living testament of her personal garden. They will always be blooming because of her love, devotion and encouragement; she will be with her family for all of our tomorrows.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Miller; her daughter Laura Hornung; her father, Bruce Clyde; her mother and stepfather, Vina and Frank Stirling; and her siblings, Harvey and Edith Clyde, and Donald Stirling.

Marybelle is survived by her daughter Linda (Don) Slone of Anchorage, Alaska; her son-in-law Tom (Laurie) Hornung of Billings; her eight grandchildren; her thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona.

A special "Thank You" to her caregivers Lynn Askar, Gwen Goar and Julaine Kenfield - you loved her very much from your heart as she did you. How fortunate we were to have you in our lives.

To her close friends, Mardi Weaver, Luvern Stuber, Millie Kjorli, and Johanna Kato, may God bless you all for loving Marybelle. Your friendships are rare.
