News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara

We’re grass?

You know, Lord, as we’re out and about enjoying lovely weather, we can’t help but notice that the season of autumn is changing. The weather is a bit chillier, snow might be on the near horizon, but meanwhile, we become aware of falling leaves and notice that our grass is dying! That just might remind us once again of how short our lives are.

Several friends are computer experts and they certainly like to remind some of us older folks that there are advancements in technology that beat anything and everything that ever was, they go on to explain things that they’ve learned. Though that all is quite amazing, some do miss out that our deepest needs are addressed only by the eternal and proven will of God in Scripture, as Phil Ware tells us!

We’re all aging, Lord, whether we think about it or not, and as we notice the changing of the season, some of us are reminded of our transitory stay here on earth. Some of our dear ones have already gone to be with You, Lord, for Your eternal reign in Heaven. What a joyful day that will be when it’s our turn. While we are still here, help us to know our place before You. Help us to remember to seek You will in Your Word.

In our busy lives, it’s enchanting to take a few moments and read 1 Peter 1:24-25: “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.”

So — if we need a dose of the eternal today, we probably all have an old family Bible or maybe even a mobile device where we can access Your proved will and word. Thank You Lord, for a recognizable and special example.

Love, Mara
