Press release

Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 recently donated $1,000 to Bear Paw fire department, $250 to the Clack Museum foundation and $250 to Plant a Seed ... Read.

"Our lodge was pleased to present the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department with $1,000 to upgrade the fire company's current equipment," Havre lodge Exalted Ruler Kyle Leeds said. "Volunteer fire fighters and the job they do as first responders is greatly appreciated by the Elks as an organization and the Havre Elks Lodge locally. We were pleased to present the Bear Paw Fire Department with $1,000 to enable them to respond more efficiently to the communities and people in rural Hill County."

The Havre Elks Lodge donated $250 to the H. Earl and Margaret Turner Clack Memorial Museum Foundation for the Havre Historic Center.

"History is an important part of any community," Leeds said. "The work the Clack Museum Foundation is doing to restore the former Anderson Wholesale and Griggs Printing building to its former glory and as the new home of the H. Earl Clack Museum will be an asset to the Havre Community. The foundation is going to utilize this money to install historically appropriate light posts in front of the building."

For the second year in a row, Plant A Seed ... READ! received a donation from the Elks.

"Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 is donating $250 to Plant A Seed ... READ!'s newborn program at Northern Montana Hospital," Leeds said. "The needs of our community's youth are a focus of the Elks and the work Plant a Seed ... READ! does for childhood literacy is amazing."

Leeds said the donations to these three organizations came from a grant.

"We are celebrating 150 years as a fraternal organization in 2018. The Elks National Foundation in celebration of our 150th anniversary, offered every lodge across the country, the opportunity to apply for a $1,500 grant for youth or community-based projects."
