Montana State University-Northern hosting 'Sex in the Dark'

Montana State University-Northern is hosting Sex in the Dark, a popular nationally recognized event for students to learn more about sexual health, Wednesday.

Northern’s Office of Diversity Awareness and Multicultural Programs is hosting the event to provide students a safe environment to ask questions and learn the myths and facts about sex. The event occurs with the lights off and the room filled with neon glow.

The event take is set to place on campus in the Little Theatre in Cowan Hall starting at 8 p.m.

Sex in the Dark provides students with information about healthy relationships and consent.

A panel of experts from Northern’s community will answer students’ anonymous questions about sex in this casual, relaxing setting. The evening also is intended to provide assurances to students that their concerns are shared by many others.

Students also can learn about resources available to them on campus and in the community.

Diversity Awareness and Multicultural Programs Director Cristina Estrada-Underwood said, “Sex in the Dark is part of the program’s goal to promote appreciation for cultural diversity by fostering positive human relations for all students with particular focus on needs of student populations historically underrepresented or underserved based upon race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, and learning and physical exceptionalities serving as a resource for Montana State University-Northern regarding multicultural needs.”
