Local 4-H leader recognized as Volunteer of the Year

Press release

Hill County is home to this year's 4-H District 2 Volunteer of the Year Award, Kodi Peterson.

"Kodi is an outstanding leader to her club, Kremlin Hawks 4-H Club," Extension Agent Jasmine Carbajal said in the nomination application. "She leads with determination, kindness and encouragement. She inspires her club members and parents to get themselves involved in their projects, as well as in county-level events. Kodi is a very approachable leader and has many of the senior members involved in herdsmanship and motivates them to continue their commitment to 4-H year after year."

The awards are usually presented at Leadership Forum, but since Montana 4-H is taking a year off with that event, Peterson will be recognized during the awards banquet at 4-H Congress July 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Carbajal said Peterson is an asset to Hill County and to 4-H. She also serves as the chair of the Livestock Committee. She has been involved with 4-H for more than 10 years and has been a club leader for seven years.

Kremlin Hawks 4-H leader Jessica Myers said she wanted Peterson to be nominated for the award because she believes Peterson's "dedication to teaching others does not go unnoticed. She is constantly taking time during club meetings to talk about parliamentary procedure or working with the herdsmanship youth to instill what it means to be a good animal steward."

The 4-H community values Kodi Peterson and are thankful for all the great skills she teaches 4-H members, a release said.

4-H seeks nominations annually for their Tribute of Excellence Award category.
