Good times at the MSU-Northern Rodeo

It was a big weekend for the Montana State University-Northern Rodeo Team. No only were the Lights and Skylights excited and proud to be the hosts of last week's stop on the Big Sky Region schedule, but, they took full advantage of their time in the Bigger Better Barn.

Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Northern held the annual MSU-Northern Big Sky Region Rodeo in Havre, and when the dust settled on the three-day event, it was a fun and exciting time for MSU-N.

With Montana State, Montana, Providence, Miles Community College, Dawson Community College and Montana Western all in attendance, the rodeo was a big one, but the Lights and Skylights still shined bright.

MSU-N's Kolby Kittson made a huge jump in the Big Sky saddle bronc standings with a great performance last weekend. Kittson now sits in third place overall in the saddle bronc competiton. Chance Sjogren also performed well in saddle bronc.

Liam Marshall is also performing well for Northern in the bareback riding, while team ropers Mikenna Schauer and Kade Chritstianson had good times as well. Schauer also has 80 points in the barrel racing standings.

For the second straight year, MSU-N's Jayne Keeley had an outstanding showing in her home rodeo in goat tying. Keeley's weekend moved her to second overall in the standings, while Schauer is not far behind her in sixth place.

Northern's Kassidy Williamson also is ranked in both barrels and goat tying as well.

After the conclusion of the MSU-Northern Rodeo, the Northern women's team is in fourth place in the Big Sky standings, while the MSU-N men sit in fifth.

The Lights and Skylights will compete at the Montana Western rodeo this weekend, and wrap up the fall schedule at next week's Northwest Community College rodeo.
