Obituary - Seneca Boyd "Sundance" Standing Rock, Old Man Feather

Seneca Boyd "Sundance" Standing Rock, whose Indian name was Old Man Feather, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020, at Benefis Medical Center of natural causes.

Wake began at 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, and continued until his traditional funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the Warriors' Burial Grounds.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Seneca was born June 30, 1978, in Havre to Deanna Standing Rock. He was raised in Rocky Boy, graduating from Rocky Boy High School in 1997. Upon graduation, Seneca enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served until his discharge in August 2000.

He returned home, and then moved to Wyoming for a while to work in the oil fields before returning home for the last time, where he worked in forestry was a wildland firefighter and hotshot. During the summer of 2008, Seneca met Michele Cantrell, and the couple were drawn together. In August of 2011, they married, and they had four children and were raising their nephew. Seneca was a very hard worker, caring for his family, most recently with the Rocky Boy Veterans as a maintenance worker.

He loved to sing and play with his children, and was a wonderful dad and husband. He had a great sense of humor, and loved to spend time with his family and close friends. Seneca was a very loving, very giving man who was well-known and very well-liked in the community.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and Florence (Denny) Standing Rock and numerous cousins.

Seneca is survived by his wife, Michele Standing Rock of Rocky Boy; children, Sheena, Sundance, Slade, and Seela Standing Rock; nephew Jeremy Cantrell; mother, Deanna (Alex Denny) Standing Rock of Rocky Boy; siblings, Shawn "Pow Wow" Standing Rock, Joseph Denny, Aldean Denny, and Norman Denny, all of Rocky Boy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends whom he adored.
