Food Bank opens Wednesday for seniors only

Havre Community Food Bank is adding a day of service for senior citizens in need of food assistance.

The food bank, located at 453 Fifth Street North, will be open Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for seniors 60 years and older.

The food bank is regularly open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., each week.

This additional day is intended to help restrict exposure of seniors, one of the most vulnerable groups, to novel coronavirus 2019.

While health restrictions are in place in the state, Havre Food Bank has instituted new rules to help everyone stay safer. The staff will have a two-person limit in the lobby, so people will need to be prepared for the weather in case they have to wait outside. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the front counter for people to use before handling food.
