MDT reminds political candidates about proper sign placement

HELENA — Campaign season is a busy time for candidates and their staff. Political signs are a traditional method of advertising, but proper placement of these signs goes beyond campaigning.

The Montana Department of Transportation is reminding candidates of the laws regarding placement of political campaign signs along state highways. Signs on highway fences, utility poles, and otherwise on state right of way are not permitted and will be removed by MDT Maintenance crews. Every year, unlawful placement of signs in ditches, or on the highway side of fences, is a recurring problem...
