Caroline was born September 29, 1928, in Doone, IA, to Ted and Lucille (Lang) Jastorff, the only girl in a family with four children. Her family later moved to Sturgis, SD, and in 1946, Caroline graduated from Sturgis High School.

August 8, 1946, Caroline married Sam Hatty, and, together, they had two children. In 1948, the couple moved to Montana, living first in Miles City, then Billings, and finally Havre, where they retired. There, Caroline worked for the hot lunch program at Devlin School and then the high school for 18 years before retiring in the mid-1970s.

She enjoyed sewing and helping others. Some of her fondest memories were of the trips to Arizona that she and Sam would make with friends each winter. She also volunteered with the Foot Clinic and was a Girl Scout leader for more than 15 years.

Caroline and Sam were one of the founding families of Messiah Lutheran Church, and Caroline was an active member there. She possessed a deep-seated faith, and served others as a testament to that faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Hatty; parents, Ted and Lucille Jastorff; grandson Douglas Dolven and three brothers.

Caroline is survived by her children, Samuel (Edna) Hatty of Elephant Butte, NM, and Geraldine (Greg) Dolven of Havre; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
