Rocky Boy's Jaynah Gopher signs with Providence basketball

The 2020 senior class for the Rocky Boy girls basketball team was a talented one. And it shows as players from that class are getting a chance to continue playing basketball at the college level.

Wednesday night, Rocky Boy's Jaynah Gopher announced that she has signed an NAIA national letter of intent to play for the University of Providence Argos and head coach Bill Himmelberg.

The announcement came via her Facebook page. She said: "I. AM. SO. GRATEFUL. The opportunity, the privilege, and the ability to play ball is incredible, and I'm running with it. I want to thank my coaches, family, supporters, and most importantly the community."

NDNSPORTS.COM on their Twitter feed also congratulated Gopher. It read: Congratulations to Jaynah Mcnab Gopher (Chippewa Cree), out of Rocky Boy HS in Montana, who signed her letter of intent to play basketball at the University Of Providence in Great Falls.

Gopher was a three-sport standout at Rocky Boy playing hoops, volleyball and running track and field. She was a two-time District 1B All-Conference standout in basketball, and she also helped the Morning Stars to the 1B championship and a trip to state back in 2018.

Gopher, a 5-9 forward for the Morning Stars, was also a team captain this past season in both basketball and volleyball. She's the second player from her class to sign with a Frontier Conference program. Last month, Sasha Coffee also announced she had signed with the Rocky Mountain College women's program.
