MHSA makes changes to fall postseason, start of winter sports

Havre High's Loy Waid runs in the 2020 Havre Invitational cross country meet last month. The 2020 cross country season is winding down, and when the state meet comes in two weeks in Kalispell, there will be some changes to how the meet is ran due to COVID-19, the MHSA announced Tuesday. The MHSA board also announced that the start of the 2020-21 winter sports season has been delayed to Dec. 7, with first games and meets not until Jan. 4.

It's time for the Havre High cross country teams to hit the final stretch of the big race.

Yes, the season is wind9ing down for the Blue Ponies, who travel to Lewistown for the Eastern A Fall Classic Thursday. The meet, started several years ago, rotates around the conference, and replaces a divisional meet. Cross country doesn't require divisional or detract races because all teams qualify for the state meets.

And speaking of the state meets, the Montana High School Association announced approved changes to the 2020 All-Class State Meet, which will take place Oct. 23-24 in Kalispell. Nor...
