HHS grapplers open the season in Miles City

The Havre High wrestling team is finally on the mat. The Blue Ponies got their first taste of action in the 2021 season Saturday in Miles City.

Havre was supposed to have two Eastern A duals Saturday, one against Miles City and another against new Class A member East Helena, but East Helena didn’t make the trip, so the Ponies had an official dual against the Cowboys, as well as a slew of exhibition matches.

In the day’s only official dual, Miles City topped Havre 39-26. The Ponies got a pin by Mick Chagnon (120), a 9-4 decision by Dominic Perkins (126), a fall by Wyatt Hanson (152), a 16-0 win by Kale VanCampen (16) and a fast pin by Orion Thivierge (170).

In exhibition matches Saturday, Havre also got wins by Maleigha Fuzesy (126), Tristan Stygles (145), Clara Laird (152), Landon Caplett (160), Mason Wilting (160), Daniel Edmonds (170), Brooke Nelson (126), Carson Harris (113), Randy Tommerup (205) and Riley Pleninger (145), as well as Chagnon, VanCampen, and Thivierge.

Next up for the Blue Ponies is a trip top Glasgow to take on the Scotties and Glendive Friday night.
