Local Golf Report: So glad Golfing for a Cure is back

Tournament season is upon us and, fittingly, the first tournament on the Prairie Farms' golf schedule this summer is one that didn't get to happen last year.

The 16th annual Golfing for a Cure Scramble will be held Saturday at Prairie Farms. The tournament returns after being canceled due to the pandemic last summer.

Of course, the tournament is one of the most important and meaningful fundraisers on the Hi-Line, in my humble opinion. The Golfing for a Cure mission statement says "We are working together to raise funds to assist cancer patients across the Hi-Line and beyond. The event has been extremely successful at raising funds to provide aid to those fighting cancer."

I couldn't have said it better myself, and I have been lucky enough to be involved with the event in years past. This year's tournament will once again be an 18-hole scramble with registration at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Teams are composed of two women and two men.

Again, this tournament means so much to so many, and I'm excited that it's back after not being ale to be held last year. The Havre Women's Golf Association, which puts the event on, does an incredible thing with this event, and I'm so proud to have not only been a part of the tournament in different years, but to know all the wonderful people who work so hard to put it on.

So with that said, have a great Saturday everybody!

League golf continued last week. In men's league at Prairie Farms, Wagner Plumbing, Hole 19, Myers Ranch and Baltrusch Land & Cattle all tied for high team with 19.5 points Tuesday night. Jeremy Jensen and Jordy Donovan tied for low gross, each shooting even-par, while Neal Rosette Jr., was low net with a 30.5.

Last Wednesday night saw Gallery Lounge earn high-team honors with 24.5 points. Kyle Miller shot even to earn low gross and Brent Reber was low net with a 34.

Men's league also got going again at Beaver Creek last Thursday night. High team was RJS Associates with 44 points, while Cory Brothers was low gross with one-over par 37. Maynard Limberhand was low net at 32.
